Sem 7 Week 10 - Design & Development
This week is our second presentation, our work to present is mainly our final concept art and design.
We use Canva website to do our presentation slides so that it is flexible for everyone to edit at the same time. One of our groupmate made a template of our slide design, and the concept artists upload their artwork, and the arrange the placement. Some groupmates are finding the vfx video example that we will use in our film, they download the effect result video and put in our slides.
A day before our presentation, we stay back in class for one hour and have a quick rehearsal for the next day assessment, we set a timer to make sure we don't exceed the time limit.
After presentation
After our 15 minutes presentation in class, our lecturers gave their great comments. First, good progress for us even though we changed our whole story halfway. Second, the middle part of our 2D animatic is a bit confusing on the first look, our lecturer only understand it after some time of thoughts, maybe we can use the help of color grading to indicate the memory flashback part. Third, for the color test of the dad character, the color is too similar with a butler instead of earl. Fourth, our character model for the boy's muscle is a bit too muscular and not relaxing. Fifth, the title of the newspaper is too long and wordy. Lastly, key art's should make the lighting focus more on the newspaper since it's important.
Challenges Faced
A few days before our presentation, we have trouble in time putting up the work needed for our slides, as some of the concept art is not completed yet.
Solution
We have a very quick discussion on what to focus on for our work, and we decided to leave out the idea for using 3D proxy environment model in our 2D animatic as we won't be able to make it on time, instead of that we focus more on refining our concept art.
What's Next?
We are going to prepare for our 3rd assessment in the last week of this semester.
