Sem 7 Week 14 - Evaluation Day
In this week, we will be having our evaluation day for semester 7, along with our seniors on their final semester, to show our projects to industries guests that will be present on the day.
Our goal is mainly to present our film designs, character turntable and 3D previs. First, we introduce our story synopsis. then a quick show on the storyboard. Moving to design & development with visual explorations and character sheets. We then show our 3D previs, and character turntable of our boy model with texture and wireframe.
Moving on to environment design, color script and key art. We also include some vfx video samples from online that will be serving as a guide for the vfx in our film. Along with the software we will be using in this project, such as general in Maya, Unreal Engine for rendering, and other editing softwares. We end the slides with listing the competitions we want to enter after completing our film, as our future planning.
A Talk With Industries Guests
After the presentations ended, we all moved to the library to have a talk with the industries guests. They came to each group in each company after another, giving detailed feedbacks and suggestions on our projects.
For our group, the industries guests gave comments which we can improve includes, adding storytelling wise camera movement, clearer story foreshadowing, better character pose and animation timing, character modeling default pose is too stiff, and suggestions on rigging and character hair simulation choices.
Asking Questions
After we note down their comments for our film, and we also ask them questions, such as info and positions of their company, software usage, plugins recommendations and many more, the industries guests answer our questions professionally with patience. They also ask by wanting to know us and what our skills are. All industries guests are very friendly and have connection with our lecturers, in it we also engage the conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. In today, we get many meaningful advices and tips from everyone, as we end the day in the evening.
Ending This Semester
Now we've successfully passed our semester 7 evaluation day, we will all spend our holiday by continuing our film project.
