The character sheets include their facial expressions, gesture designs, orthographic view, props and height size. We also finalize our design and vfx for our antagonist, after referring multiple references and doing a few design sketches. The environment design listed out all props, their placement, and the different colors arrows showing the character's route for the story.

3D Blocking & Storyboard

We model out a 3d blocking following the environment design and props, so that it can be easier for our storyboard artists to refer it without needing to figure out the perspective by themselves, which saves time. Our storyboard artists then discuss the color palettes of their stroke to differentiate, the frame size and amount in a single file. Including the camera movement, character action, scenes, and details.

Challenges Faced

Some parts of our storyboard lack in between or having too much shots. Our storyboard may exclude our short film time limit.

Solution

We decided to film a video of ourself as reference, with our teammates acting out the whole story, filmed as a video. That way we can get a clear timing of our film, and also able to clean up some unneeded shots in storyboard, and fill up the in between by referring to our acting.

What's Next?

After having our storyboard, we will move on with our 2D animatic.
