Sem 7 Week 4 - Pitch Desk
This week is our 1st presentation, we are presenting mainly our story synopsis, storyboard and art direction.

We introduce all our groupmates and their roles, then shortly explain our story, showing the storyboard, the 2D animatic, our art direction including the style we want to do for modeling and texturing. We also show the reference for all characters and environment including the props.
The animation style we want to go for is on more realistic, natural motion and weight of real life human, reduce the over exaggeration, not too cartoony, we want to let our audience feel our film is believable through our animation. We also show a few short videos of some example from other film, how we want our animation be. We also write down a list of VFX that we will be doing, from dust particle to object destruction.
We later show the concept art, then our the software we will be using for our film, and future planning in some contest we are interested in participating with our film.
Challenges Faced
During our presentation on lecturer's feedback, we took too much time explaining our story and we had repeated multiple times, as in synopsis, storyboard and 2D animatics. Which caused our presentation to be stopped as it passed the time limit, and we aren't able to present some parts at the back slides.
Solution
We take note and decided to have more presentation practice for our next assessment, so that we won't make the same mistake again.
But...This Happened
During the weeks, from our lecturer’s review, our story still has some issues, including misunderstandings and unclear points. We consulted different lecturers from other courses, and their feedback was very helpful. But after amending again and again, we realized there will be new problems every time when we change something to solve the old problems.
After our group meeting, we came to conclusion to put off the story, and make a new one. We changed the concept from an abstract theme of a boy facing his inner demon to a realistic family story centered on misunderstanding and miscommunication.
Our Story Changed, Start Everything Again
Our story was approved by lecturer in a short time, we speed up in redrawing the characters, environment and storyboard.
